Of these 661 accounts, 508 (76.8 %) were for developed property violations
and 153 (23.2 %) were for undeveloped property violations. Vegetation Program staff
initiated 196 accounts based on systematic inspections for visual clear zones, tall grass
and weed violations on undeveloped properties, and sidewalk obstructions.
Over the past five years the number of accounts has ranged from 650 to 820 per year.
(See Figure 2: 5 -Year Statistical Summary)
Average Time Between Service Requests and Inspection
The average response time between a request for service and the first inspection is 4.0
days, matching the response time for 2010 (See Figure 3). This average is calculated
using the total days from service request to first inspection and includes weekends and
holidays. The goal of the Vegetation Program is an average of 2 working days from
service request to inspection. The increased response time over the past two years is
primarily due to the integration of the Private Property Vegetated Stormwater
Enforcement Program. This resulted in increased work load including additional
inspections expected on the same day, as requested by the contractor, through the
building permit process. (See Figure 2: 5 -Year Statistical Summary)
Courtesy Letters Mailed
The number of letters sent to property owners to correct violations decreased to 609 from
741 in 2010, a 28% decrease.
