Of these 39 work orders, 13 were for mowing on undeveloped properties and 26
were for developed properties. When looking at this increase, the change appears to be
attributed to developed properties which increased from 21 abatements in 2010 to 26 in
2011. The number of abatements on undeveloped properties increased slightly with 13
abatements this year, compared with 11 the previous year.
Economic trends over the past few years continued to be a factor in 2011 as 24 of the 26
developed property abatements occurred on vacant properties that were either abandoned
or in foreclosure. A significant amount of undeveloped property violations occurred this
year in uncompleted subdivisions where vacant lots were neglected by developers.
13
