1994 Training Day Debrief
1. Make sure the video equipment is working. Make the changes that were
discussed. Putting two more monitors in the far corner.
2. Leave the lunch and awards in the heated equipment bay areas. It worked
much better than Fleet.
3. Change the room set up. After the majority of people have gone through
the lines remove 4 of the 8 tables and just set up chairs for people to sit
and watch the awards.
4. Having the afternoon training in the heated bay areas or turn the heat way
in the large conference room. Many complaints about how warm the conference
room was for the afternoon sessions.
5. Start planning in early October for training day. Get your committee
member names to Bob early.
6. If we do the cards again, make sure we advertise the time, place, date,
etc. so staff can attend. For example, in the large conference room at 3:30
p.m. on such and such a day.
7. Complaints about the pop - have more than one type of pop. At the last
minute, we pick up some diet pepsi but we ran short. Why not contact
Willamette Beverage? Check with Sandra Gleason about ordering like what is
done for Public Works Day.
8. Order more food. The other option is to go for a potluck and have like A-
D bring breads, E -G bring salads, etc.
9. Set up a suggestion box. Not determined if it would be feasible for each
site, like facilities, crew rooms. This would be a way to have staff submit
names all year round. Sometimes you forget that someone has received a
special award. Someone would have to be responsible for checking on the box.
10. Supervisors get crews enthused. How do we get involvement from all the
staff?
11. Get a copy of the final evaluations to supervisors.
12. HRRS - Worksite Environment - give them more time to do a presentation.
Also AFSCME should be allotted more time. We could re- arrange schedule to
have maybe 3 presentations with 2 having an hour and 15 minutes and then 1
more that would run approximately 45 minutes. Currently, we have 4 - 45
minute presentations. -
13. Give a copy of comments to each person giving a presentation.
