Worst part was the small children in groups. Impossible to take them through
the entire tour. We need a scaled down tour for youngsters in groups; suggest
truck rides, fleet, and popcorn area. Pre - schoolers are too young for the
entire event.
Build steps for backhoes, dumptrucks, to avoid picking up children. Target
public for participation. Driver's track around perimeter. Mini tours for
mini people. Better known guest speaker if possible. Don't open to entire
4 -J. We should stick with 5th grade classes every year. We need some
attraction, perhaps an equipment operation competition. Use one backhoe
to pick up an old tire or two and place them over a steel post that is sunk
in the ground. Teachers, media, City Mgr, Mayor, others could compete in a
timed event.
Letting people drive dump trucks, run backhoes and sweepers was the best
part; also kids loved the balloons.
No bad part except for cleaning up.
Do more advertising so more people could see what PW Maint. really does.
We need more pencils to give out; they went real fast. We could invite high
school kids and more grade schools.
Best part was aerial lift rides. Worst part was displays in building #2.
Show more skills used in different jobs with or without equipment. Hands on
kind of stuff.
Best part was the smooth and orderly process of the program. Worst part was
the Chambers St connector. More advertisement - free hot dogs, pepsi, and
coffee.
Best part was the little ones. Worst was nothing. Serve lunch, good event.
All of it was good. Make it lasts longer, have better information at front
gate. Use people on tour guides who know what the equipment is all about.
Best part was popcorn, pop, equipment display, truck driving course, backhoe
gradeall boom truck.
Best was operation of equipment. Worst was not enough spectators. Not as
much employee involvement as last time (viewers). More public involvement.
High school career classes invited as more pre- schoolers.
Best was equipment operation "hands on ". Worst was poor showing by public at
the opening ceremonies. Drop the equipment operation and rides from the
guideed tours (too long). Let them go on their own. I do not feel it would r ,
be nearly as well received by the public if it was hosted at the treatment
plant or downtown.
I thought the reception table did a great job. Everybody who came was
welcomed very warmly. Have it open long enough for people to attend after
they get off work. The organization seemed to be top- notch. Maybe use the
cherry picker as the speaker's rostrum might add interest to the opening
ceremonies.
Best was the attendance, worst was standing around between groups. Would
like to see large blown up pictures of equipment in work setting.
