a time while they wait in line. We could also have music in that area, like the CD
our stormwater folks had recorded last year with clean stream songs. I'd even
be willing to spend the morning in that area rather than being a tour guide, if that
would help get some of these ideas off the ground for making the trailer -
ride waits a more pleasant experience. Debbie, I talked to the preschool
teachers I worked with, since I knew their school was an all -day one, and asked if
they had ever considered coming later in the day, when things weren't so hectic
They said that wouldn't work, because preschoolers have to take a nap in the
afternooh. But it might be worth asking the groups' of older kids if they'd be
willing to start with lunch and do the tour later. Becky Carlson, PW Admin
Hi Debbie - it was interesting hearing from all the tour guides, but I thought I
would send this to just you and you can do what you would like with it.
I thought for the most part, all went well. I liked the separation of Tiny Park,
although it was a little hidden and out of the way. I felt the most congested area
for my group was the police area. We did the trailer ride around 1:00 and there
was no line at all. My group met at 11:30 and the first thing for them was to eat
lunch. Well, the lunch area was so full, that all 50 kids and 20 parents had to sit
on the floor to eat their lunch. Nobody complained as they could se how full we
were. A little work is needed with the scheduling of the lunch times. Earlier that
day, I found a group that had lost their tour guide and were getting a little
frustrated. I tried to find their guide with no success, so I led the group myself
through the rest of the tour. All in all, everything went pretty smoothly. Thanks
for helping things be so organized. John Clark, PW POS
I had the best tour guide experience so far. A lot of things went right especially
moving Tiny Park. I liked better the vehicle display arrangements this year.
The single biggest problem was getting into the conference rooms in building 2
for the airport and picture taking. My third time back finally found a small enough
line so we could accomplish the task. The second thing was the process of
getting off the bus and finding the group /tour guide out front, then getting started
on the tour. I have a solution for all this in mind but know it is probably not going
to happen. If we could just schedule the groups to come 5 minutes apart instead
of having 6 groups come right at the same time that would be most helpful. If a
group could pull up right in front of the tent, get off and go right into building 2 to
start the tour and not have any other group trying to do the same at the exact
same time things would go so much smoother. If the schools could just sing a
song before coming, or the bus could drive in circles it would help so much.
Good job to all for a great job well done, and I am thankful for the perfect weather
for this event. Randal Dale, PW Maint
To the committee, Thank you for the efforts you made this year. The new layout
was great. Our tour was early and as the lines got long, we simply moved to
another spot and came back to the congested areas later. I loved the layout for
'Tiny Park'. More freedom to choose for the kids and the flow seemed better.
We should look at the Building two layout and see how to speed up this first entry
into the event. That was the only real bottleneck we experienced. Tom Utt, PW
POS
