page ( http: / /cesrvl07 /parks /wetlands /mitigation.htm are gone from the portal page. The portal page should
be re -done to incorporate all the functionality of the page http: / /cesrv107 /parks /wetlands /mitigation.htm This
page is a very important customer service page for the mitigation bank, and needs to be a high
priority to fix.
The Wetlands purchase applications credits is available from the same page as noted above under the heading
"Mitigation Bank."
• The links that are part of the http: / /cesrvl07 /parks /wetlands /seeds.htm need to be properly included on the
seed program page on the portal web.
The wetland seeds procurement information is available on the same page noted above within the "Wetlands
Program Info" portlet and the "Related Documents, Seed Procurement" link.
• The map ( http: / /cesrvl07/ parks /maps /EugeneWetlands.pdf which was a prominent link on the old main
page http: / /cesrv107 /parks /wetlands/ is no longer there, or at least not easy to find. The map should be
directly accessible from the main wetlands portal page.
The wetlands map is listed on the POS home page in the right -hand column under the heading Parks Maps "West
Eugene Wetlands Map."
Category 2: Inability to re- direct old address directly to wetlands portal web
The West Eugene Wetlands Program is a nationally recognized program, and other web sites across the state and
country have links directly to our old web site ( http: / /cesrv107 /parks /wetlands / ). Because of the way the portal web
has been structured, it is impossible to re- direct people directly from the old web site to the wetlands portal site (they
can get as close as the NR Section page). I'd like to see the portal web re- structured so that users will be directly
routed to the wetlands portal site.
The URL redirects to the Wetlands information on the same page as all of the information listed above.
Category 3: Inability to provide a useful URL to access site
The previous web site had a fairly short URL that could be described to people over the phone and they could access
the site. In contrast, the best URL that can be given to people now is very long http: / /www.eugene-
or gov /portal /server pt ?space= CommunityPage& cached = true& parentname = CommunityPage &parentid =0
&in hi userid =2& control= SetCommunity &CommunitylD= 217 &PagelD =1358 and then that doesn't even get you to the
wetlands portal web.
I would suggest telling the customer to go to the city home page and then selecting Visitors, Parks. They could also
go to the city home page and select "How do I find a City park" which is in the top left corner. A third option is to go to
the home page and select "Parks and Open Space ".
Category 4: Design
I think most people would agree that the old site for both the wetlands ( http: / /cesrv107 /parks /wetlands / ) and the
remainder of the POS page had award- winning style and design. It would be nice if the portal site could have some
degree of design elegance.
We want the site to be attractive and believe that it can be made so with the addition of appropriate graphic elements.
The purpose of the site, though, is to provide an efficient path to information and services.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide these comments. I sincerely hope that efforts will be made to address the
majority of these comments.
-- Eric
Eric N.
