Parks and Open Space Strategic Planning
Agenda Item Template
Title:
Innovative and Engaged Work Teams
Description:
This is a discussion about how we continue to promote and prioritize an innovative
workplace. What incentives are in place to keep people motivated and looking to the future
for who we can be and not what we've always been. I expect this discussion to look at trends
in the industry and how we get ahead of them.
Example: The first digital camera was invented by a Kodak employee. They, of course, did
not support this because it took away from their film industry. Now they are re- inventing
themselves and are playing catch up.
Why is this important?
This is important because it keeps us connected to what's happening in the community and
keeps our work relevant, efficient and effective. We all know that something will have to shift;
we can't just keep asking for new FTE, we need to think about how we can do the work
differently.
Who's Involved:
Stakeholders- All POS, at some point; AFSCME, ?
Decision Makers- Leadership Team, meaning all sup's and managers.
Resources:
I think the resources would include the Comprehensive Plan, but would also require meetings
with focus groups of employees and some of our outside partners.
Timeliness:
This conversation could come after some of the goal setting and who are we conversations,
but should be relatively high on the list.
Recommended Actions:
All of us should look at.trends, get up to speed on agencies and companies that are adapting
and flexing with a supportive work force.
Agenda Item Sponsor:
Sarah and Eric
Strategic Planning Template February 2007
