Do you feel that things in Eugene are generally going in the right direction or do you
feel things have pretty much gotten off on the wrong track?
Right Direction Don't Know Wrong Track
38% 19% 44%
Those most optimistic were men, the younger respondents, and those from south Eugene. Those
most pessimistic were women, those aged 60 plus, and those from west Eugene.
A similar question was asked in the city's Community Survey fielded last October and found:
Right Direction: 57 %; Don't Know: 20 %; and Wrong Direction: 23 %. This implies a shift of
approximately 20 percentage points from "Right Direction" to "Wrong Track" between the two
surveys. As far as could be determined, there does not appear to have been any response bias to
parallel this shift.
lb. The percentage of don't knows was significantly higher than in the parks
and open spaces questions. Normally, a higher percentage of don't knows in these types of
questions implies less knowledge.
ld.
