Beginning with bills issued on or after <br /> July 1, 2006, regional (MWMC) fees are proposed to increase 10%, and local (City) wastewater fees are <br /> proposed to increase 6%. The regional increase is necessary to fund on-going operations and <br /> maintenance along with needed improvements to regional wastewater facilities. The local increase is <br /> necessary to continue funding of operations, maintenance and rehabilitation of the Eugene wastewater <br /> collection system. This is the third increase in local wastewater rates since 1993. <br /> The combined effect of the proposed wastewater fee increases for a typical residential customer is an <br /> increase of $1.55 per month, from the current total of $17.92 to a proposed total of $19.47 per month Of <br /> <br /> ~r this increase, $1.19 is related to the regional portion while $0.36 is from the local portion. Other user <br /> categories will see similar effects in terms of the percentage increase, with dollar amounts varying <br /> depending on volume and strength of wastewater discharge. <br /> All wastewater customers will be notified of the proposed increases through a rate notification brochure <br /> inserted into EWEB bills, advertisements in the Register Guard, and via the City's web site. Copies of <br /> this notice will be provided to the news media, interested persons who have requested notice, and <br /> interested government agencies, posted at City Hall, and first advertised in the Register Guard on April <br /> 29, 2006.
