Supplemental Questions for Eugene District Title II Applications
Note: These questions are not required. However, the answers you provide could better articulate the overall funding status
of the projects and how the Title II funds fit into it.
1. Application Title
Wetland Habitat Improvement on BLM O &C Lands in the West Eugene Wetlands
2. Applicant Name and Organization
Trevor Taylor, Natural Area Restoration Team Supervisor,
City of Eugene.
3. What other sources of funding have you applied for? What other funding have you secured?
Several outside funding sources will be contributing to the project and all have been secured.
NYC will be contributing 44.6% of the cost of youth crew services to repair fence, remove non - native
species, and thin ash trees from the three sites.
The City of Eugene will be contributing 66% in -kind staff time to oversee and supervise the project,
administer the grant, hire and train the seed crew, coordinate with growers, manage grow -out contracts,
coordinate purchase of seed, design seed mixes, coordinate with land owners who allow seed collection
on their land, oversee seed cleaning, record - keeping, storage, and mixing, manage the plant materials
inventory and database, oversee seed delivery from growers, and delivery of seed mixes to partners.
The City of Eugene will also be contributing cash to support grow out contracts and seed purchases for
the plant materials program.
The BLM will be contributing staff time to supervise NYC crews and perform follow up monitoring.
They will also be providing cash to support grow out contracts for the plant materials program.
The Nature Conservancy will be contributing volunteers to assist with seed collection, cleaning and
mixing. They will also be providing cash to support grow out contracts for the plant materials program.
4. What is the importance of this funding to your project, both directly and as match? How would your
project be affected if you did not receive Title II funding?
We would not be able to implement youth -corps funded fence repair, ash thinning or invasive species
control this year on these 0 & C lands without this funding. This would forgo benefits of youth
employment and training. It would also place North & South Taylor at risk of further degradation due
to cattle encroachment and invasive species expansion. It would also contribute to the further decline of
the endangered Bradshaw's lomatium which is directly inhibited by ash tree competition.
12 of 16
