It is the responsibility of all employees to create and <br />maintain a work environment free of violence and harassment. <br />It is every employee's responsibility as a steward of the City to immediately report infrastructure <br />conditions that pose a hazard to the public. If possible, you should remove or correct the hazardous <br />condition. Examples of hazardous conditions are downed stop signs, malfunctioning signals, debris in <br />the street, hanging tree limbs, and deep potholes. Employees are also expected to report other <br />problems such as graffiti. <br />c' <br />� L_ _ SAFETY RULES The City acknowledges an obligation to provide a safe and healthy environment for its <br />employees and agrees to do so in accordance with any and all applicable local, State, and Federal laws <br />pertaining to health and safety. The Maintenance and Parks and Open Space. Divisions are committed <br />to promoting safe working practices and expect their employees to do the same. Your supervisor will <br />provide you with a copy of the Maintenance and Parks Open Space general safety rules for reading <br />and future reference. You are expected to follow the rules at all times;. failure to do so may result in <br />disciplinary action. The City of Eugene is self - insured. All accidents involving you; City equipment, <br />City vehicles, or other City properties need to be reported to your supervisor immediately and, <br />documented in the minor injury log. Employees are responsible for reporting accidents, faulty <br />equipment, unsafe practices of fellow employees, and unsafe conditions of work areas to their <br />supervisor. <br />AL IHAZARD COMMUNICATION The right -to -know law is a requirement of the. Occupational Safety and <br />Health Administration (OSHA). This standard was developed to ensure information reaches <br />employees. A review of chemicals used in.your work environment should be conducted by your <br />supervisor prior to you beginning work. The review should include explanation of each section of the <br />Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), location of the MSDS books, secondary labeling, location of <br />labels, and review of the Hazard Communication Handbook. <br />CLAIMS AGAINST THE CITY Employees encountering citizens who express a desire to make a claim <br />(l against the City will act as follows:, <br />1. Do not advise citizens or express an pertaining to the merits of any proposed claim. <br />2. If pressed, advise that all claims are submitted to Risk Management. <br />3. If the incident is connected in any way with Public Works activities, advise your supervisor. <br />immediately by radio or telephone. <br />4. The supervisor will investigate, take pictures, and document significant items. If the. incident <br />involves a vehicular accident, Fleet Services and the Police Department must be notified. <br />SUPERVISOR CHECK LIST <br />1. Provide employee with copy of pertinent safety rules.- <br />2. If appropriate, provide a copy of radio call numbers. <br />.3. Provide new hire forms (see Division's Payroll Specialist). <br />4. If appropriate, provide employee with key(s) and Sonitrol access. <br />_ 5.
