L DRESS Required dress includes shirt, pants, and ANSI approved safety shoes. Dress should be <br />appropriate for varying. weather conditions and work environment.. Shorts are considered inappropriate <br />dress and may not be worn in any Public Works Maintenance work environment. In some instances, <br />Parks and Open Space employees may wear shorts. Your supervisor will tell you if you may do so. <br />The City will normally furnish rain gear, safety vest, eye /ear protections, and in some instances <br />protective gloves to employees in a work environment that requires their use. Used raingear will be <br />provided, if available. Seasonal employees will only be provided with rain gear if there is used gear <br />available. This safety equipment is to be used during work hours only and must be replaced if it is <br />worn out. Lost, stolen, or unnecessarily damaged items may be charged to you. When replacing <br />worn-out items, you will be required to return the old article of issue. <br />MEDIA CONTACT Work- related media contacts should be. made only with the express, written consent <br />of the division manager. Should media contact an employee who has not received prior, written <br />approval to represent the division, the employee should politely decline any comment and direct the <br />media representative(s) to the division manager. This is not intended to restrict individuals' freedom <br />of speech. However, City employees should make it clear that comments made while they are off duty <br />are their personal opinions and do not represent the division, the department, or the City. Photographs, <br />drawings, and other materials produced on the job should be provided to the media only in accordance <br />with established procedures for granting public records requests. <br />Reporters and photographers generally have a right to observe or photograph work being done in a <br />public place. If employees see a photographer or reporter on a job site, they should continue working <br />and inform their supervisor at the earliest opportunity: <br />OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT Employees who wish to accept additional employment while working for the <br />City must request written permission. This must be approved by the department executive manager. <br />Your supervisor will provide the proper forms upon request. <br />CONDUCT Public relations are an integral part of each City employee's job. Employees should take <br />pride in friendly, efficient service and should strive to do the best job possible for the citizens of <br />Eugene. Neat appearance, appropriate conduct, and a helpful attitude are important to the City's <br />service delivery systems. It is your responsibility to work in a productive and cost - efficient manner at <br />all times. Horseplay is prohibited. <br />Employees may not accept special favors, considerations, discounts for private purchases, gifts, or <br />gratuities resulting from or related to their employment with the City. <br />The use of any tobacco products (e.g. smokeless chewing tobacco and lighted smoking instrument or . <br />device) is strictly prohibited in indoor work areas at all facilities owned, leased and operated by the <br />City of Eugene, including all motor vehicles and motorized equipment owned, leased and operated by <br />the City of Eugene. Smoking will be allowed in designated outdoor patios, balconies, walkways, and <br />Other outdoor areas as long as smoke does not infiltrate another work area. <br />The City of Eugene prohibits employee possession of any dangerous weapon, while on duty or at any <br />other time while in a City -owned or City - controlled building, job site, or vehicle. This policytakes <br />precedence over an employee's permit to carry a concealed weapon. <br />Any act of violence or intimidation, including verbal or physical threats is strictly prohibited at all <br />times.
