Leaf Program News Release
November 3, 2011
Page 2

Find a safe place to pile and cover leaves on your property until the weekend before leaf
pickup is scheduled in your neighborhood. This will keep them from blowing around or washing
into storm drains.
If there are safe places to pile leaves, make sure there’s at least 15 feet between leaf piles
and parked cars so Public Works equipment operators can safely remove the leaves.
Keep sidewalks clear of leaves and other seasonal debris that can cause slipping or
tripping hazards.
Because most of the leaves placed in the street are delivered to local homes and gardens,
keep pine needles, sticks and other yard waste and debris out of leaf piles.
Still not sure what to do with all those leaves? Visit the City of Eugene’s leaf web site at
www.eugene-or.gov/leaf. You’ll find the most current leaf collection schedule, links to online
services such as leaf delivery request forms and requests to clean bike lanes, and tips on
composting leaves. Or call Public Works Maintenance at 541-682-4800.

Here’s Eugene’s 2011 leaf collection schedule:
Area First Round Second Round
West/Central Eugene Nov. 7 to Nov. 16 Dec. 19 to Dec. 28
North Eugene Nov. 15 to Nov. 30 Dec. 27 to Jan. 6
Southeast Eugene Nov. 29 to Dec. 9 Jan. 5 to Jan. 10
Southwest Eugene Dec. 8 to Dec. 20 Jan. 10 to Jan. 16

# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
