RELOCATION OF EXPERIMENTAL HORTICULTURE FIELDS <br /> for the <br /> University of Oregon <br /> Proposed Addendum to July 1989 Agreement <br /> The following is proposed to replace sections: C. Improvements, D. Utilities, <br /> E. Access and Parking, F. Operation and Maintenance, G. Time Schedule, <br /> and H. Understanding of Both Parties, from July 1989 agreement. <br /> C. Improvements <br /> The project will also provide for temporary and permanent site <br /> improvements within a two acre portion of the site as necessary to provide <br /> soil conditions, access, security, shelter, and sanitary facilities comparable <br /> to those at the present field site or available nearby in the <br /> University's Herbarium building. Temporary improvements at the Alton <br /> Baker site have been limited to: <br /> • Installation of a fully automatic, drip irrigation system. <br /> • Tilling and planting of maize seed within four 20' x 20' trial plot <br /> areas. Plots utilized included numbers 44, 45, '54, 55, 93, 94, and <br /> plot -size areas east ct numbers 105 and 106. <br /> • Tilling and planting df,winter oats over the entire four <br /> acre site in order to detect regions of unusually poor or superior <br /> plant growth. <br /> • Removal of deteriorating underground irrigation pipelines as <br /> necessary to allow tilling of the entire site. <br /> More permanent improvements which are. ' esirable prior to the second <br /> planting season include: <br /> 1. SHELTER. <br /> • <br /> Upon relocation of the existing tenants, PARCS will make <br /> available a residential building at 622 Day Island Road for field <br /> related University activities. Until tenants can be relocated, the <br /> University may place and use a construction trailer 'and portable <br /> toilet facilities within the field area. <br /> As compensation to PARCS for the use of 622 Day Island Road, the <br /> University will: assist with tenant relocation costs: maintain the <br /> property in good condition; and participate with PARCS in the costs <br /> of sewer line extension to 622 and 632 Day Island Road. (See section <br /> D, Utilities.) The shelter will be furnished with program equipment <br /> and supplies which are moveable from the existing site. <br /> Furnishings and supplies including a table, chairs, and refrigerator <br /> will be moved into the shed from the University's north campus. <br /> An air cooling system, telephone, and outdoor light will also be <br /> provided for security of nighttime fieldworkers. <br />
