As you know, the current plan is f
three of those trees to remain and for a new large tree to be planted in the center of he lazar
We believe that the current trees, which are columnar in shape with dense foliage, do not fit
the planned plaza design and that a canopy style tree with lacier foliage would be more
attractive.
The change in trees is clearly optional and would be done solely to improve the appearance
of the plaza. However, if the trees are to be changed, now is clearly the best Opportunity o
do so. ty
We would like a determination from the City if changing these trees would require a fee for
the removal of mature trees and replacement with younger, smaller caliper trees. We do not
believe that the fee should be charged, since the change is strictly optional and woul
done with the sole intent of establishing more appropriate trees in that location. d be
It is not certain if the cost to replace the trees will fit within the project budget or be considered
an appropriate expense. It is extremely unlikely that the change would be made if there were
also tree removal fees.
The decision on the trees needs to be made very soon.
May 2, if at all possibi
Since y, c
Charlie Simmons
Facility Services Manager
CS /crt
Please get back to me on this by
H1WP DATAKEUGSTATN\plt,.,, .doc
