Timmons
Olympic Landscape
1220 Goodpasture Island Road
Eugene, OR 97401
I am addressing this letter to both of you to respond to Mr. Timmons' letter to a member of my staff, Jeff
Anderson, letter dated July 13,200 1. Mr. Timmons' letter addresses street tree issues at Pioneer Business
Park, and I am including you in this response, Mr. King, because you signed the Street Tree Plan
Agreement for Pioneer Business Park contract with the City on September 3, 1997.
Mr. Timmons, I did receive your letter requesting the City to accept the street trees at Pioneer Business
Park.
Based on field inspection, the City of Eugene agrees that, of the 301 trees originally planted, 262 have
successfully completed their three -year establishment period and are accepted by the City for all future
maintenance.
For the 39 trees remaining, a new bond amount of $11,700.00 is required ($300 per tree is the amount
required to bond for the three year establishment period for trees on local streets).
Of the 39 trees remaining under bond, our records show that 14 were replaced this past planting season and
will require bonding until their three year establishment period is over and the trees have been accepted by
the City. One of those 14 trees has already died and will need to be replaced during the next planting
season — next fall/winter. Its establishment period will begin at that time.
Another 25 trees need to be replaced. Of those, 23 were not accepted by the City on final inspection; one
planting space is empty (no tree); and one has recently been broken off or vandalized.
Please submit a new bond and schedule for replacement of the required trees at your earliest convenience.
I would be happy to meet with you to discuss the trees in this project should you wish. You can call me at
682-4800.
Sincerely,
Mark R. Snyder
Urban Forester
cc: Billy Sherritt, Project Manager, Frontier Resources, LLC
