I <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />I <br />1 <br />J <br />1 <br />2.U.3 Speed Control Devices <br />Speed control devices, generally called speed humps or bumps shall not be authorized for <br />installation on unimproved streets. Unauthorized speed control devices in these locations will be <br />removed by Traffic Operations due to the safety implications associated with potential loss of <br />driver control. Unauthorized devices removed by Traffic Operations shall not be returned to the <br />installing party unless the party reimburses Traffic Operations for all costs associated with the <br />investigation, removal, storage, and administration of said device. In addition, prior to return, <br />party shall sign a statement with specific language agreeing no to install unauthorized devices <br />within the right -of -way. <br />2.V House Moves <br />House moves are permitted by Public Works Engineering (PWE) staff located at the Permit <br />hiformation Center (PIC). Engineering staff shall receive approval from Traffic Operations <br />prior to issuing permits authorizing house moves. <br />Traffic Operations shall confirm signal, lighting, and sign clearance prior to authorizing any <br />house move. House moves which require any changes to the transportation system to facilitate <br />the move shall paid for by the house move permittee. Any damage to the transportation system <br />resulting from the house move activity shall be paid for by the house move permittee. <br />2.W Unauthorized Signs and Structures <br />1 Unauthorized signs and structures may cause significant hazards and shall not be located in the <br />public rights -of -way. These types of facilities shall be placed entirely on private property. <br />Complaints regarding unauthorized signs and structures will be treated similar to other service <br />requests and prioritized as workload permits. Unauthorized signs and structures in the right -of- <br />way may be removed by Traffic Operations without notice. <br />' Signs and structures removed by Traffic Operations may be claimed at Public Works <br />Maintenance, 1820 Roosevelt Blvd. within 30 days of removal. All costs including review, <br />research, documentation, removal, and storage associated with the removal signs or structures <br />shall be paid by the owner prior to release of the device. In addition, owners must sign a <br />statement agreeing to not locate the sign or structure within the right -of -way. The statement <br />' shall also acknowledge that future violations will result in forfeiture of the sign or structure. <br />2.X Plan Review <br />1 Plan review involving traffic control devices and street lighting shall be performed by Traffic <br />Technical staff. Traffic Technical staff shall involve Traffic Maintenance staff as necessary for <br />review of specific technical components such as signal and street lighting design and component <br />layout. <br />' 2.X.1 Capitol Improvement Project (CIP) <br />' Page 33 of 36 <br />Last Revised: 3/10/08 <br />
