Budget Narrative
off-channel habitat for anadromous spring Chinook
at Delta Ponds
Riparian Planting: $135,358 c~11
Under the OWEB and ODFW grants, contractors will be hired to plant native trees, shrubs, and
sedges on a total of 15.5 acres of riparian habitat. Funds will cover the costs of contract
management, planting and watering laborers, plants, plant protection material, and other project
supplies. All personnel hired by project contractors will be paid prevailing wages, based on job
type and project locality.
There will be two components to this work:
a Non-bench planting: $69,044
The design plans included with this application packet show a draft planting plan for the
proposed planting of existing riparian habitat where weed control will.take place. Costs are
based on the cost to do similar planting work at Delta Ponds in early 2009 with some minor
adjustments, based on phone conversations with Second Growth Inc. Namely tree protection
costs were increased to reflect increased costs of metal fencing and posts.
o Plant Establishment Costs: $66,314
This includes costs of watering and maintaining all native trees and shrubs planted as part of
this project from the time of planting until July 14, 2011. Costs are based on the cost for plant
establishment work currently in progress at Delta Ponds.
Riparian Planting Quantity Unit Cost/Unit OWEB ODFW TOTAL
Plant "non-bench" 16.4 acres $ 12,155 $ 69,044 $ 69,044
areas
Plant Establishment 42 acres $ 5,000 $ 54,000 $ 12,314 $ 66,314
Work (1 yr watering
and weed control)
Grand $ 135,358
Total
Other (Federal): none
Other (Non-Federal): none
Indirect Charges (Federal): $36,137
The City of Eugene has an approved indirect cost rate of 47.01% for FY09 for all activities
associate with Stormwater Management.
