Minor Transportation Projects, as defined in Agency's Programmatic Agreement with SHPO (see <br /> Task 3.1), are excluded under Task 2. If a site is located within the API and Agency is unable to <br /> avoid the area, then further examination will be necessary through Phase 1 survey, sub-surface <br /> probing, and possibly Phase 2 Archaeological testing. <br /> As part of preparing aBaseline/Reconnaissance Report, Contractor shall conduct: <br /> • A Literature Review for the project area. Contractor shall examine the following facilities and <br /> documents: the SHPO in. Salem, OR; General Land Office maps; Sanborn Fire Insurance <br /> j Maps; and other records archives for known prehistoric and historical archaeological <br /> resources and for project background information. <br /> • A Field Reconnaissance (scoping trip), including areconnaissance-level pedestrian- survey <br /> with widely spaced transects (30 meters or greater) or a field visit. The field visit will enable <br /> the archaeologist to identify areas of high and low probability to determine the appropriate <br /> level of survey and/or sub-surface probing for the project area, if needed. <br /> LGreralcs <br /> Contractor shall: <br /> <br /> _ Provide aBaseline/Reconnaissance Report to Agency within 1S calendar days from NTP. <br /> sk <br /> 3. The PA Memos are <br /> compiled in a notebook at the end of the year and submitted to.SHPO. The PA Memo includes <br /> information from scoping trips or reconnaissance surveys, maps, and photos. The Agency <br /> Archaeologist will keep the final PA Memo on file to be submitted to SHPO at the end of the <br /> year. <br /> If a site is located within the API, then the project is automatically elevated out of the <br /> Programmatic Agreement and a technical report and site forms are required to be submitted to <br /> SHPO for review and compliance.
