This reallocation of costs affects users within each customer
class differently. For most commercial customers, service charges will increase. For medium
strength and high strength commercial customers with higher monthly usage and septage haulers,
rates may decrease. Residential customers using less than 6,000 gallons per month will pay slightly
less under the proposed rates, while residential users above 6,000 gallons per month will pay
approximately $0.02 more per month for each additional 1,000 gallons used.
There is no increase in the City of Eugene's portion of the wastewater service charge for the coming
year. The City has been able to keep the rate the same as the current year through efficiencies in
programs services and an expanding customer base.
Collecting and Administering the Fees
The fees are administered by the City of Eugene. Althouglrthe Eugene Water and Electric Board
(EWEB) acts as the billing agent for the City by including a bill for City sewer service in their water
service billings, they have no relationship to the City on sewer system operation or rates. EWEB
forwards all wastewater revenues to the City, who in tum, sends the. regional wastewater treatment
portion of the fees to MWMC.
Please direct all questions about sewer user fees or questions on billings to City of Eugene Public
Works Maintenance at 687-5201.
May 1995
For More
Information
A more detailed schedule of
fees is attached.
