1. A.C. in utility trench patches shall be placed to a depth matching the existing <br />pavement or four (4) inches, which ever is greater. -The top course shall be class <br />"C" mix and shall not be placed any thicker than 2 inches or thinner than 1 inch. <br />Where the existing pavement is A.C. over P.C.C., C.T.B. ar A.T.B., replacement <br />depth shall be the combined depth of the A.C. and P.C.C., C.T.B. or A.T.B. <br />The permittee may substitute P.C.C. for A.C. for all except the top (4) four inches <br />when replacing existing pavement sections. If the permittee uses a 9 sack concrete <br />mix design and places the concrete at an approximate slump of 2 inches, final <br />asphalt concrete may be placed after allowing the concrete two hours to cure. <br />2. Tack coat asphalt conforming to section 211 of the Standard Specifications shall be <br />uniformly applied to the existing abutting A.C., P.C.C., A.T.B., or C.T.B surfaces. <br />3. The materials and the placement and compaction of A.C. shall conform to the <br />.requirements of section 211 of the Standard Specifications. <br />Compaction of the surface lift of A.C. shall be accomplished using a steel wheel <br />roller of adequate size to insure aggregate interlocking and thorough compaction <br />to the above-referenced specifications. A vibrator plate compactor shall not ~e <br />acceptable for finish lift compaction. <br />4. After final compaction, all joints between new and existing paving shall be sealed <br />with CSS-1 paving asphalt, and sanded to prevent pickup and tracking. The asphalt <br />shall be applied with a pressurized sprayer and shall completely overlap the exiting <br />and new paving to ensure a complete seal of the joint. <br />3.C INSPECTION <br />Work under the permit is subject to City inspection during and after completion of the work. <br />EC 7.305 (3) . . <br />A copy of the approved permit and drawings must be on the work site. EC 7.305 (2) <br />The Utility Inspector shall be responsible for inspection of work performed under standard <br />right-of--way cut .permits and annual permits for work within the public way. Upon request <br />.by the Engineering Division, the Utility Inspector may also inspect other work performed <br />in the public way under a revocable permit or a public improvement permit. <br />Upon receiving the notice of commencement for the proposed work, the Utility Inspector <br />should endeavor to meet with the contractor's representative, in charge of the construction <br />at or before the commencement of the work covered by the permit. At this time, the <br />methods and planned sequence of the operations should be discussed, unanswered ques- <br />tions resolved, and agreement obtained on preexisting damages to facilities already in <br />place. <br />Utility & R/W Permit Policy 21 02/09/98 <br />
