Airport <br /> Capital projects for the Eugene Airport are outlined in and structured by the Eugene Airport <br /> _ Mater Plan and the five year Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Capital Improvement Plan. <br /> \ , These documents provide for the planned development of the Airport property and facilities <br /> to accommodate future aviation demand while remaining compatible with the environment <br /> and community development. Project priorities are determined through a process based on <br /> adopted plans and FAA approval. The Airport Advisory committee provides direction and <br /> citizen input for this process. <br /> ' An update of the 1990 Eugene Airport Master Plan was initiated in March 1998 and will likely <br /> conclude in late Spring of 1999 with the adoption of the plan. The updated Master Plan will <br /> refine the existing Master Plan, but many projects will remain unchanged from the current <br /> plan. Once approved, this document will establish a new five year Federal Aviation <br /> Administration (FAA) Capital Improvement Plan for the Eugene Airport. <br /> Because the Airport Master Plan will be completed after the City of Eugene Capital. <br /> ' ~ Improvement Program (FY 2000-2005) and the projects listed in this CIP may be subject to <br /> change. <br /> Project Categories <br /> ' ~ Airport projects are described in one of three ways: <br /> 1. Preservation and Maintenance -These projects preserve, maintain and repair the <br /> investment in existing airport facilities; <br /> • ~ 2. Site and Facility Improvements - Projects in this category include modifications and/or <br /> additions to existing facilities to meet operational, safety and cost-efficiency goals; <br /> 3. New Capital Facilities -These projects result in new asset. <br /> e The emphasis in Fiscal Years 2000 and 2001 require major investments in the first two <br /> . ~ categories, including the FAA mandated safety improvements to Runway 3-21 and the <br /> associated relocation of Greenhill Road, airfield drainage improvements and pavement <br /> rehabilitation, general facility preservation improvements and the relocation of the car rental <br /> storage and service area. Construction of a taxiway extension and ramp on the east side of <br /> Greenhill Road in Fiscal Year 2001 will be needed for general aviation development and is <br /> the only new capital facility identified in the first two years.
