<br />Regional distribution of catchment area travelers
<br />~ Table 4.6 below divides air travelers from Eugene Airport's catchment area into the FAA's nine
<br />_~ geographic regions and one catchall international region. International travel is further broken down in
<br />Table 4.7.
<br />Of the catchment area's survey air travelers, 35.6 percent were headed for cities in the West region, 9.9
<br />percent for cities in the Southeast region, and 9.6 percent of air travelers traveled to the Northwest region.
<br />~~ Of the survey air travelers 14.4 percent flew to international destinations. Of the top 10 destinations, six
<br />_ are located in the West region, two in the Northwest region, one in the Great Lakes region, and one in the
<br />Southeast region. Of those travelers who originated their travel at Portland International Airport, most
<br />--~ were headed for the West region or international destinations. Catchment area travelers destined to the
<br />West, Northwest, Great Lakes, and Central regions used Eugene Airport to a greater extent than Portland
<br />~ International Airport. Compared to the 2004 Passenger Demand Ana/ysis, the retention rate for Eugene
<br />_~ Airport increased in every domestic region with the highest increases in the Central, Northeast, and
<br />Southwest regions.
