<br />Originating airport for top 25 destinations
<br />Table 4.2 breaks down the top 25 destinations by originating airport for the survey sample. A modest
<br />majority of air travelers from the Eugene Airport catchment area accessed air service at the local airport.
<br />Of the top 25 destinations, 57.9 percent of the survey passengers began their trip at Eugene Airport,
<br />while 42.1 percent began their trip at Portland International Airport. Of air travelers destined for the
<br />number one destination, Los Angeles, 67.5 percent began their trips at Eugene Airport. Eugene Airport
<br />retained over 70 percent of catchment area air travelers to San Francisco, Seattle,'and Palm Springs.
<br />Markets where retention slipped below 30 percent include the Hawaii markets of Honolulu and Kahului,
<br />and San Jose, California. Of the top 25 destinations, Eugene Airport had the highest capture rate for
<br />destinations west of the Rocky Mountains excluding Hawaii. Compared to the 2004 Passenger Demand
<br />Analysis, retention for Eugene Airport slipped in the Los Angeles, Washington, DC (Dulles), San Diego,
<br />and Ontario, CA markets.
