To keep you informed of the changing environment in the airline industry, we have included with this letter U.S. DOT domestic airline report data for calendar year 2004. The information provided includes a 12-month comparison of 2003 and 2004 passengers, airline revenue, average airfare, and average yield. This data is airport specific and it includes similar information for the other airports in the Northwest region (Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming). Due to sample size and the inclusion of only domestic data you may find that enplanements reported do not match your records. The primary value of the data is that it provides a good benchmarking tool for you to compare general industry trends. In the Northwest region, passenger traffic increased 7.8 percent from 2003 to 2004. Revenue also improved with a 7.0 percent increase. However, average fares decreased 1.5 percent and average yields dropped 2.7 percent. It is our intent to provide this same basic information to you on a quarterly basis.
