Table 3.5 provides a weekly available seat summary. The information can
`~ be examined for disparities in service between Eugene Airport and Portland International Airport,
~ shedding some light on why travelers may drive to Portland to access air service.
Portland International Airport offered 1,696 departures during the sample week, over eight times as many
departures as Eugene Airport. Alaska Airlines, including Horizon Air, provided 50.5 percent of departures
and operated a variety of narrow body jet and turboprop aircraft. United Airlines and Southwest Airlines
ranked second and third with 17.3 percent and 13.6 percent of total weekly departures, respectively.
United Airlines used both narrow body jet and turboprop aircraft. Southwest Airlines used the Boeing 737
exclusively to serve the market.
Overall, the majority of departures were provided with narrow body jet aircraft. The de Havilland Dash 8
was the most highly used turboprop aircraft in the market. Jet service accounted for 62.3 percent of the
total departures. There were 62 fewer departures compared to the sample week of December 15, 2003,
used in the 2004 Passenger Demand Analysis, a decrease of 3.5 percent
Table 3.4 Portland International Airport weekly departures
,~~,..,~
Aircraft type Weekly departures I Jet Turbo-
AS/QX UA WN DL HP AA Other Total I p p
~,,~. ,~~,..~M rO ,~,.
Arrbus ;16,'31 ~i320 0 56 0 0 0 0 40 96i 961 0
., ~,...w,..,", ..,~,~
Airhus :}30;'340 0 0 0 0 0 0 10 101 10= 0
Boeing 737 206 49 231 35~ 42 0~ 21 5840 5840 0
~,W~„ ~n..~~,x,,.".~„"""„M.,x
Boeing 757 0 55 0 14 0 0: ~ 21. 90~~,m,~~~ 90 0
hoeing 767 0 0 0 0 0~ ~ 0 14 ~14>"~~14 ~.~.".~,.0
" _ ~ _ ~_ ~~ v~,.~,"m,.
Canadair Regional Jet 200 0 0 0 14 0 0 0. 140 _14 0
Canadair Regional Jot 700 129 0 0 0 0 0 0 1.29 ~ 129 0
Cana fair Regional Jet 900 0 U 0 0' 21 0~ 0~ 211 21~ ~~ 0
'".507 ~~,;w,"„ .O ~M~,~.,.507
de Havilland Dash 6 ZOOi400 479 0 0 0 0 0 28
„ ,~,
Fmbraer 120 Brasilia 0 133 0~ 0 ~ 0~ 0 0 133 ~ 133
_.
.. .~. ~..: 98 ~_ O'
McD-Douglas MD-80rt~3/90 42 0' 0' 7 0 49 0. 981
Total 856 293 231 70 63 49 134. 1,696, 10560 640;
w,
of total 50.5 17.3. 13.6 4.1 3.7 2.9 7.9. 100 0 62.330 u. 37 7
Source: Official iHirline Uuide -week of December 6, 2004 "`" 'w"""""~"`""'~"""""'"""""°""""'""~
fiUGLNF.
AiIiPOItT
Page 8
