Water Source Additions -Project No. 14196
Capital projects for Water Source Additions include projects that relate to the existing Hayden
Bridge intake and any work that maybe included with the fish hatchery intake. Starting in 2003,
a study will be conducted to assess the existing Hayden Bridge Intake on the McKenzie River to
identify Capital Upgrades for the structure, piping, pumps and screens.
Another study on the horizon will be a cursory look at whether infiltration galleries on the
McKenzie River will be feasible to hedge high turbidity events and hazardous spills.
Approval for the development of groundwater as a backup water supply is also included in this
project. Wellfield development will occur over the next five to ten years. Land acquisition for
groundwater is included in the Land Acquisition Project (No. 15377)
Project 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2003-2007 2008-2012
Replace Raw
Water Pumping
Check Valve $40,000 $40,000
Well Field
Develo ment $2,611,870 $3,126,130 $567,000 $22,000 .$6,327,000 $4,000,000
Re lace #2 Screen $15,000 $150,000 $165,000
Pro'ect Total $2,651,870 $3,126,130 $582,000 $172,000 $6,532,000 $4,000,000
Project Description:
Well fzeld Development
The first well field is to be developed by 2004. In 2002, the monitoring wells and two production wells have
been drilled. The 2003 budget includes more drilling of wells, construction of pipeline infrastructure and well
houses. Currently, EWEB plans to dri115 to 7 wells for a total back-up supply of 10 to 15 MGD.
ORIGINALLY, EWEB planned to construct the well field in two phases. However, further investigation
concluded that the best approach to achieve the needed quantities of back-up supply, as soon as possible, was to
combine the two phases. There is a contingency of $3,260,000 for potential treatment of arsenic and radon for
the groundwater project. At this point, we are not planning to treat groundwater other than to disinfect to meet
water quality standazds. This contingency is not reflected in this estimate. However, this contingency has been
included in our bonding authorization in case it is needed. Refer to the December 2000 Groundwater
Exploration study report for further details. _
Total Project Costs (2002-2006)
Labor (EWEB) $ 900,000 SDC Money Eligibility $ 0
Engineering & testing $1,355,000 Rate Funded Capital $7,670,000
Dollars Spent (2002) $1,343,000
Well Construction $1,405,000
Treatment and Transmission $1,540,000
Structures $ 930,000
Electrical & Control $ 975,000
Administration(3%), OH&P $ 565.000
Total $7,6'10,000 ,
``" Water Division =Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan
