EWEB will replace the existingpump gallery at Hayden Bridge with a new pump gallery adjacent to the 15 mg
reservoir. The existing pump station will become a back up to the new station. The existing pump gallery is
inefficient, in some cases the lazger pumps operate at 30 percent efficiencies. The new pump station will have a
pumping range of 15 to 100 mgd, and will include vaziable speed drives. Along with the new pumps, it is
necessazy to upgrade the electrical service for reliability and future expansion capability.
Hayden Bridge Treatment Plant Expansion
EWEB conducted a re-evaluation of our demand forecast and the production capacity of the Hayden Bridge
Treatment Plant in combination with the new 15 MG reservoir. As a result, we have decided that this project
can be deferred. The development and utilization of the groundwater project for emergencies adds great
confidence that this is a prudent decision. The costs for this project will remain in the plan for documentation
sake, but will not be reflected in the 5-yeaz plan. The treatment plant expansion entails the design and
construction of an additional sedimentation basin and two filters to add an additional 14 mgd of capacity. A
new configuration of raw water lines into the plant will also be required. Currently, the timing for this project is
2002/2003. Black & Veatch will be in pre-design and looking closer at the Hayden Bridge treatment processes
in 2000. The following is the current understanding of future costs for this project.
