RIVER ROAD RESIDENTS' VIEWS OF ANNEXATION
Voting Rationale
Opposition to annexation is predicated largely on fear of higher taxes,
augmented by distaste of City interference in local affairs and lack of
enthusiasm for new services including installation of sewers.
Support for annexation is based on improved police protection, the need for
sewers and the quality of other services such as library, fire/emergency and
better roads and sidewalks. Some also cite pro-growth, economic advantages.
Following is a complete accounting of "pro" and "con" reasons as
volunteered by respondents.
