RIVER ROAD RESIDENTS' VIEWS OF ANNEXATION <br />Hv~otheses <br />A series of pro and con hypotheses were tested for credibility to sort out <br />"strengths" and "weaknesses" in annexation arguments. <br />On the positive-side: <br />• 76% agree that River Road residents are a part of the <br />Eugene community. <br />• 71% agree that River Road needs representation on <br />the City Council. <br />• 65% disagree that annexation would make River Road a <br />less desirable place to live. <br />On the negative or neutral side: <br />• 75% agree that the cost of city services is too high, and <br />higher taxes is the number one objection to annexation. <br />• 43% agree property values will increase under annexation, <br />while 40% disagree. <br />• 43% agree groundwater pollution is a serious problem in <br />River Road, but 43% also disagree. By and large, septic <br />tanks are not a transcending issue considering the cost <br />of sewers. and interference of Eugene in community <br />affairs. <br />ES 4 <br />
