II INTRODUCTION <br /> GENERAL <br /> The purpose of the Facilities Master Plan is to assess the current uses and future needs of the <br /> Roosevelt facility, which houses the Maintenance and Parks and Open Space Divisions. The <br /> plan focuses on the facility sites, located at 1820 and 1902 Roosevelt Boulevard between <br /> Chambers Connector and Garfield Street. These sites provide space for offices, meeting rooms, <br /> workshops, workout facilities, equipment staging and fleet operations as well as material and <br /> i equipment storage for numerous Public Works activities. <br /> I <br /> This Master Plan was originally created in April 1989, updated in May 1991, updated in <br /> September 1995, and revised in January 2004. The creation, updating, and revision of the <br /> Master Plan has been an ongoing, cooperative endeavor by the Maintenance and Parks and <br /> Open Space Divisions in order to improve facility effectiveness while controlling costs. The plan <br /> describes the existing facilities; current uses, and proposed future uses and improvements. <br /> i <br /> I' <br /> In order to revise and update this plan for current operational activities, the existing uses of <br /> buildings and supporting infrastructure were examined and are reflected in a detailed inventory <br /> of the status of the facilities. Short- and long-range future facility needs were evaluated, and <br /> <br /> ~ " ' proposals for future use, modification and expansion of the facilities were refined and are <br /> described in the latter portion of this document.
