parks & Open.. Space ` Funding Identified <br />_and Acquisition <br />Natural Area Park Acquisition <br />Project Description: Acquire land for natural area parks. This project's capital funding includes revenue <br />from the Parks, Atheletic Fields and Open Space Bond measure approved by voters in November 2006. <br />Natural Area acquisition is anticipated to require additional funding for major maintenance beyond regular <br />operating costs. All of the parcels purchased in the last five years have had significant populations of <br />aggressive, invasive plants as well as issues with erosion, slash piles etc. A major <br />maintenance/preservation project over the first few years generally stabilizes the site which can then be <br />maintained with ongoing operational funding. The average cost per acre for major maintenance is $3,000. <br />Because of the uncertainty of acreage purchased with these funds, a separate line item was not included. <br />Project Status: Not Started New in FY08-13 CIP.
