Maintain metropolitan parks to preserve unique cultural and <br />natural areas or to provide features, facilities, and events that <br />attract users from the entire Eugene-Springfield metropolitan <br />area. <br />B-35. Provide metropolitan parks as part of the overall standard. of <br />6.8 acres per 1,000 residents (including metropolitan parks, <br />special use facilities, urban plazas, and linear parks) to allow <br />maximum flexibility in responding to community needs and <br />acquisition opportunities. <br />B-36. Review opportunities to provide additional metropolitan parks, <br />especially if parcels are contiguous with existing sites. <br />Linear Parks/Greenways <br />B-37. Provide linear parks as part of the overall standard of 6.8 acres <br />per 1,000 residents (including metropolitan parks, special use <br />facilities, urban plazas, and linear parks) to allow maximum <br />flexibility in responding to community needs and acquisition <br />opportunities. <br />B-38. Explore partnerships with agencies that own rights-of-way, such <br />as Lane County, Oregon Department of Transportation, Lane <br />Transit District, Bonneville Power Administration, Eugene Water <br />and Electric Board, Army Corps of Engineers, and the railroads <br />to develop and maintain additional linear parks. <br />B-39. Acquire property or obtain access easements from private <br />property owners to fill missing links and improve connectivity. <br />B-40. Coordinate with the City's bicycle program to ensure that <br />planning efforts are complementary. <br />B-41. Connect schools, parks, and other community destinations <br />with linear parks, bikeways, and trails where feasible. <br />B-42.
