CHAPTER IV <br />A-19. Develop a comprehensive strategy for fostering youth <br />development during out-of-school times, such as mornings, <br />affernoons, and school vacations. This effort can build on the <br />current successful collaboration between LRCS and its <br />community partners. <br />A-20. Continue the asset development approach to program <br />delivery. <br />A-21. Partner with local school districts to provide community service <br />and mentoring opportunities for high school students. <br />Outdoor/Environmental Programs <br />A-22. Expand collaboration between LRCS and Parks and Open <br />Space (POS) to provide and expand outdoor and <br />environmental programs. <br />A-23. Explore partnerships to expand outdoor recreation activities <br />and programs that promote environmental awareness, <br />volunteerism, and stewardship, including options that are <br />affordable. <br />A-24. Develop walking programs and activities such as "First <br />Saturday Park Walks," naturalist hikes, or a kid's scavenger hunt <br />program to encourage movement and exercise, especially for <br />youth, and to increase awareness of Eugene's parks and <br />natural areas. <br />Specialized Recreation <br />A-25. Continue providing a wide range of specialized services for <br />people with disabilities and expanding inclusion efforts. <br />A-26. Evaluate the feasibility of Eugene becoming a regional <br />provider of specialized recreation services, through <br />agreements with other similar agencies. The City of Eugene is <br />known for its excellence in inclusive and specialized <br />programming and can provide support to other agencies in <br />the region. <br />A-27. Create a fund for inclusion support to provide sign language <br />interpreters, recreation aides, etc., to provide inclusion <br />assistance for people with disabilities. <br />Athletics <br />A-28. Manage facilities to promote better coordination and a <br />streamlined reservation process. <br />A-29.
