Amazon Park Workshop #3 Questionnaire Results
May 25, 2004
Questionnaires were distributed at the 3~d'Workshop to gauge support for the concept
design and improvement priorities. 19 questionnaires were returned. Below is a
summary of the information collected.
Regarding: Priorities for Available Funding
1) In general, please rate your support for the improvement priorities (circle one).
Scale of 1 -10 with 10 meaning high support and 1 meaning low support.
13 = High Support (8-10)
2 = Medium Support (4-7)
2 = Low Support (1-3)
2 = Didn't respond
2) Do you feel the improvement priorities meet your needs (circle one)? Yes/ No.
Why or why not?
12 = Yes
4 = No
3 = Didn't Respond
wny-
^ Because the options are well thought out and prioritized as to community need.
^ I use the area as an environmental education classroom. The boardwalk would
give us year round access.
^ I'm pleased the dog park is a priority and I like the wetland areas and the overall
balance of natural systems/ people's recreational desires.
^ Improved trail and creek crossing. Bathrooms very convenient for jogging and
walking.
^ The improvements address a wide range of park needs.
^ .Bigger and better.
^ The restroom at the children's play area is great.
^ Footpath to Hilyard with benches. The bridge over the canal is a great idea, I
love the serpentine design.
^ Increased dog park facilities. Although I would very much like to see the
drainage problem addressed.
Why not-
^ More and more development is encroaching on park. The relentless
intensification over time will leave us nothing but intensely developed facilities,
but the park will be gone.
^ I think the bulk of the money being spent on increasing active recreation
increases the pressure on a park already over-grazed by humans. Determining
priority improvements would be better accomplished by utilizing the. Feb 2003
survey to meet recreational uses (not needs).
^ I would like to see greater stream improvements and connectivity.
Amazon Park 7/26/2004
Workshop 3 Questionnaire Results Page 1
