The nd Amazon Park <br />Workshop report <br />November 20, 2003 <br />Introductions, Public Process Goal and Objectives <br />Carolyn Weiss, Landscape Architect with the City of Eugene Parks and Open Space Division <br />introduced herself as the project manager for Amazon Park improvements and welcomed the <br />standing room only crowd to the 2"d Amazon Park workshop. Approximately 120 community <br />members were present. Goals of the public process were stated as follows: <br />^ Goal: Conduct an efficient, inclusive and open discussion regarding Amazon Park which <br />helps direct near-term improvements. and. provides direction for the future. <br />^ Objective 1: Identify priority improvements to help determine how to spend the available <br />bond measure funds. <br />^ Objective 2: Identify what aspects of the existing Master Plan remain relevant while <br />updating and recording new trends in public opinion and expertise. Amend the existing <br />Master Plan as needed. <br />Workshop Overview and Anticipated Outcomes <br />Anticipated outcomes of the 2"d workshop were described as follows: <br />^ Provide information about the public process and project. <br />^ Collect input on the concept diagrams to be presented. <br />^ Provide opportunity for community to provide feedback on process and project. <br />Ground rules were stated to provide guidance for maintaining a productive and respectful <br />meeting environment. <br />Project Update <br />^ 1St workshop summary- A workshop summary from the first workshop is available on line at <br />http://www.ci.eugene.or.us/PW/PARKS/Amazon/AMZ proiect.htm <br />^ Questionnaire results- A questionnaire was distributed at the 1St workshop. Results are also <br />available at the above website. <br />^ Project clarifications/ Fact sheets- It was explained that the decision regarding funded <br />improvements for Amazon Park are not yet made. Decisions will be based on the. planning <br />process, currently underway.
