The Vision <br />VISION <br />YEAR 2005 <br />The citizens of Oregon are stewards of the environment. <br />They actively SOURCE REDUCE, REUSE, AND RECYCLE <br />materials before they dispose of them. <br />GETTINGTHERE <br />Citizens Will: + Perform self-assessments to identify areas for waste prevention, <br />reuse, recycling, and composting; <br />+ Source reduce, reuse, recycle, and compost; <br />.Buy goods and services from businesses that practice waste <br />prevention and recycling; and <br />+ Participate in local programs for recycling and composting. <br />Business Will: + Perform self-assessments to identify areas for waste prevention, <br />reuse and recycling; <br />.Prevent waste, reuse and recycle; <br />. Utilize secondary resources in manufacturing processes; <br />.Buy goods and services from suppliers who practice waste preven- <br />tionand recycling; and <br />• Participate in local programs for recycling and composting. <br />Government Will: .Perform self-assessments to identify areas for waste prevention, <br />reuse and recycling; <br />8 <br />The Vision <br />• Prevent waste, reuse and recycle; <br />+ Buy goods and services from businesses that practice waste <br />prevention and recycling; <br />+ Seek federal legislation aimed at national standards for achieving <br />waste prevention; <br />+ Participate in development of national policies regarding definitions, <br />purchasing, labelling, and content standards; <br />+ Establish Recycling Enterprise Zones; and <br />o Participate in local programs for recycling and composting. <br />VISION <br />YEAR 2005 <br />Education, not regulation, is the primary means of <br />affecting citizens' environmental stewardship and pro- <br />motingconservation of our resources. <br />GETTINGTHERE <br />Citizens Will: <br />Business Will: <br />+ Educate by good example; and <br />.
