The third one on there is the Monroe intersection on Highway 20 and it'll <br />add much accessibility for the Tribe's casino here in Burns and there's some other develop- <br />ment that appears maybe on that road in the future years and that also will end up being a <br />partnership between ODOT and the Tribe, two cities and the county. So we are glad to see <br />those on there and we want to say thanks to you, Monte, and to your staff. <br />Jim Schultz, citizen -- I would like to see ODOT, at least in the Burns area, make the shoul- <br />ders wider and provide a lot of pull offs, because in the spring the ranchers here flood irrigate <br />their fields and that brings in tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of water fowl <br />and shore birds. People like to look at them and photograph them and we need more places <br />to pull off. Sometimes it's really dangerous. A car will slam on its brakes right in the middle <br />of the highway because there's a grebe (sp) out there he hadn't seen before. So I've written <br />comment forms out; I think this will be the fourth one now. And maybe someday I'll here <br />back from somebody on this. Thank you. <br />PENDLETON, November 2, 2006 <br />6 attendees <br />General Comments: <br />Don Pinkerton - My family owns a portion of the farmland to be used in Pendleton's Barn- <br />hart Road -Airport Road Connector (Key 14554) STIP Modernization project. We have <br />been cooperative to this point and will continue to be. Please keep us in the loop regarding <br />any information relating to this project. The City of Pendleton has been great. I need ODOT <br />to be as helpful and open as the city has been. Thank you. <br />Larry Lehman, Pendleton City Manager -- We would like to thank the ODOT staff also. <br />We'd like to support our Pendleton Enhancement proposed project also. We think it is im- <br />portantbecause it ties into the Westgate /Court / Dorian project that is scheduled in 09. <br />They are adjacent to one another and we would surely like to have them both funded. I do <br />have a couple questions. As I look through here [the Draft 2008-2011 STIP], I don't see the <br />Umatilla 8t Street Bridge on the STIP. We though that was supposed to occur in 09. The <br />other question would be where is the Safe Pathways to Schools Program? It was talked about <br />in the spring but we've heard nothing since.
