The videoconference was telecast from Eastern Oregon University, in La Grande.
Seven additional remote locations (Burns, Ontario, John Day, Pendleton, Enterprise, Boardman
and Baker City) were on-line to participate in the videoconference. At least one ACT and one
Region 5 representative were present at each on-line location.
BOARDMAN, November 2, 2006
4 attendees
General Comments:
• Burke O'Brien, Morrow County Public Works Director and public servant -- For my part,
I've been involved in the ACT since its formation. I think there's been a huge understanding
between the counties and ODOT and other folks who would never be there without that
group coming together. It's been a privilege to work with the folks from ODOT and the
folks from the other counties. I think it's been a benefit to all of us.
Discussions
• Jim Key, citizen -Are there any plans to make US 95 in Malheur County a four lane road or
in raising the speed limit or posting signs about the Basic rule so that people would feel free
to drive faster?
• Response by George Ruby, ODOT District 12 Manager -The capacity of the highway does
not require expansion to four lanes and ODOT does not have any signs regarding the Basic
rule and, from a safety standpoint, generally does not take steps to encourage people to drive
faster.
Page 380
