FINAL 2008-2011 STATEWIDE TRANSPORTATION IlVIPROVEMENT PROGRAM
times a week. It would be nice to go the other direction on a trail to downtown Portland.
• Sandy McIsaac: Support for Transportation Enhancement Project Application -Springwater
Trail: SE Umatilla - SE 19th. 1) The scenic beauty is wonderful and so easily obtained. 2) It
is a weekly ritual for my family, our recreation and physical activity. 3) The ease of being
connected without a car or traveling streets traveled by cars is wonderful. A nice safety bo-
nus. 4) It is a part of being in community -this is why I moved from Hood River to here!
• Andy Kading: Support for Transportation Enhancement Project Application -Springwater
Trail: SE Umatilla - SE 19th. As a regular user of the trail (multiple times a week), I feel the
closing of the Sellwood gap would promote greater use of the trail because it will be easier to
navigate and far safer than the present multiple street crossings. This would be especially
true for families with young children. Also to leave the trail unfmished would be failure of
the cities to finish what it starts, and in the process leave alot of folks wondering why.
• W. Joe & Linda Weick: Support for Transportation Enhancement Project Application -
Springwater Trail: SE Umatilla - SE 19th. 1) Complete safe bicycle commute
path/downtown connection 2) Complete safe long distance walking/running path.
` • Mr. and Mrs. Byron Babcock: Support for Transportation Enhancement Project Application
- Springwater Trail: SE Umatilla - SE 19th. I took my grand kids on bikes (ages 5 & 8) and
their mother to Saturday Market for lunch. I would not take them on any road that had cars.
They road 11 miles, the farthest they have ever ridden at one time. If that part was finished,
we would have started sooner. I use the trail Milwaukie to Portland once a week to go to
Hillsboro by train.
• Larry D. Richardson: Support for Transportation Enhancement Project Application -
Springwater Trail: SE Umatilla - SE 19th. At least once a week (more often in the summer) I
bicycle from my home in Milwaukie to downtown Portland. Now that the 3 Bridges project
is complete, I no longer have to bicycle down Johnson Creek Blvd and Tacoma Street with
all their traffic. It would be much safer to connect the 3 Bridges and the Springwater Corri-
dor trails with a new trail SEPARATE from auto traffic. Thanks for all you can do to make
this a reality!
• Terry McLaughlin: Support for Transportation Enhancement Project Application - Spring-
: ( water Trail: SE Umatilla - SE 19th. 1) I use the bike trail to commute to work. 2) I use the
-
~ bike trail for recreation and access to Sellwood neighborhood and downtown via my bicycle.
~ 3) The trail presents safe, traffic free alternative to city streets. I am a 53 year old "native
` ' Portlander", who lives in Eastmoreland neighborhood.
~,_ • Tom Pogue: Support for Transportation Enhancement Project Application -Springwater
Trail: SE Umatilla - SE 19th. For my kids safety!
• CG Adcock: Support for Transportation Enhancement Project Application -Springwater
Trail: SE Umatilla - SE 19th. To further the safety of commuters and recreationalists who
use the trails. As each section is completed, more people use the trail. As each section has
been completed, my commute has been safer.
_ • Rich Jacklin: Support for Transportation Enhancement Project Application -Springwater
~ : Trail: SE Umatilla - SE 19th. This is important for public safety. It is dangerous on the road
for cyclists. The completion of the Gap is vital for safety!
• Rich Jacklin: Support for Transportation Enhancement Project Application -Columbia
Slough Trail: M L King Jr Blvd - N Marine Drive. Safety is vital. Too many cyclists are hit
by cars each year. Trails are vital to public safety and public health.
• Maxine Crookham: Support for Transportation Enhancement Project Application - Spring-
water Trail: SE Umatilla - SE 19th. I'm glad to see the bridges in, now if we can just get the
Page 365
