The ~ ' ~ ' ~ <br /> .more than 130 participants were presented with a sequence of paired ' _ ~ ' ~ ~ <br /> images of downtowns, various mixes of uses, parking options, open ~ ~ ~ a <br /> space types and design elements slidesfor a preference evaluation. ~ ' r` <br /> The. workshop participants yielded strongest support for urban - ~ y ( <br /> densities and intensity of development, interpreted as buildings ~ " ~ ~ a ~ <br /> of four stories or more with retail storefronts (particully with in- ~ ' _ . <br /> line stores,. or storefronts 20 - 30' in width). The workshop yielded- ' ~ 'LL~ <br /> J <br /> moderate support for grocery stores, restaurants, office uses and live/ ~ , _ , _ _ _ _ ~ <br /> work spaces..
