This category
includes damage caused during welfare checks, the service of
warrants, SWAT operations, lost or destroyed evidence, and damage
to an uninvolved third party's property. In FY07 sixteen claims were
filed for a total incurred of $32,956. Eight claims have been paid and
closed, three were closed without payment and five remain open.
Motor vehicle accidents were again one of the most
common type of claim with ten claims filed. These claims
also represented 65% of the department's total incurred for all claims in FY07
($86,179). Five of these claims involved only minor property damage with the
largest claim payment of $1,500. The other claims involved injuries, four of which
are not yet resolved. Injury accidents resulting from at-fault yearend and intersection
collisions explain the spike in motor vehicle accident costs for FY07.
14
12
10
8
6
4
2
Police Department
requency of MVAs Involving Damage to Third Parties

70
8 8
3 _ .. _
FY03 FY04 FY05 FY06 FYO~
Pol ice De partrn ent
Seventy of MVAs Involving D amage to Third.
