In analyzing the health and <br />fitness data reported, the Major Health Risk Factors are as follows: <br />Cancer Risk: Many factors contribute to an individual's risk of cancer, including: smoking; diet, <br />including intake of fruits, vegetables, grains, and cereals; alcohol consumption; body composition; <br />exercise; and family history of cancer. <br />Overweight: Being overweight can contribute to orthopedic problems in the <br />I q~ low back and knees. Another risk of being overweight is the development of <br />'~-1-' __ ..._._ diabetes. <br />~~ ~,_ d+ 4.,_ r;a i t <br />:~ - Heart Health: Like cancer, many factors can contribute to <br />the potential development of Coronary Artery Disease. <br />These include: cholesterol values (HDL, LDL and total ~, <br />cholesterol); exercise; body composition; blood pressure; smoking; and elevated levels of <br />blood glucose. ' <br />Exercise: The Surgeon General recommends exercising three or more ~'~. ~~`; <br />times per week to maintain a healthy life-style. Exercise on a daily basis <br />will also help in the prevention of diabetes. <br />Blood Pressure: Keeping blood pressure low protects the heart and <br />arteries and reduces a person's risk of developing a stroke. The main factors that affect our <br />blood pressure are: exercise, nutrition, alcohol consumption, body composition, and stress. <br />Diabetes: Diabetes is one of the fastest growing problems in the United States and we are <br />seeing increased occurrences of diabetes at the City of Eugene. <br />21 <br />
