These funds will be matched by $1.75 million generated <br />through the recently passed Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Bond and private funds raised ~ ~ <br />by the. local nonprofit organization, Willamette .Resources .and Educational Network (WREN): <br />WREN is leading the private fundraising campaign for the center and is committed to raising <br />$750,000 in 2007 to build the Field Science Laboratory Building in 2008. This center is the _ <br />result of a decade-long partnership with the Bureau of Land Management to identify, restore, , <br />and enhance wetlands in West Eugene. ~ ' <br />~ <br /> .~ <br />Delta Ponds and Springfield Mill Race <br />~ The Cities of Eugene and Springfield request that Congressionally authorized and appropriated <br />j funds be programmed for FY 2007 and 2008 construction. These Water Resources <br />Development Act Section 206 environmental restoration projects have been authorized and `~ <br />funds have been appropriated by previous Congressional actions. Although some progress has <br />been. made on Delta Ponds in Eugene, the .Corps has failed to initiate construction on the ,! <br />Springfield Mill Race project. <br />Forest Legacy <br />The City of Eugene requests $460,000 from the U.S. Forest Service underits..Forest Legacy 1 <br />Program to purchase 25 acres of oak savannah and oak woodlands in the southwest hills of <br />Eugene.. This .project made the U.S. Forest Service fiscal -year 2007 priority list and. was <br />j included in the President's FY 2007 budget proposal for $460,000. This will be the first Forest <br />Legacy project in Oregon. <br />i Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Waterways Study <br />- The Cities of Eugene and Springfield and Lane .County request .$500,000 for the U.S. Army ~ •~, <br />Corps of .Engineers' share of the continuing General Investigation Study. for federal fiscal year <br />2008. This project is known as the "Amazon Creek, .Oregon,. General Investigation Feasibility ~ <br />Study." This amount will be matched (50 percent) by the sponsoring local agencies and. the ~• , <br />Eugene Water & ElectricBoard. Local matching funds and in-kind services have been secured <br />' and currently exceed the pace of Corps contributions. <br />.._ , <br />Waterl2esources Development Act <br />Lane County area local governments urge reauthorization of the Water Resources Development. '~ ' <br />Act (WRDA). There are two elements of the Reauthorization of interest to us: <br />.Inclusion of $15 million and authorization for studies and ecos stem restoration in the U er <br />• Y pp ~ <br />Willamette River Watershed Ecosystem Restoration Project, Oregon.
