~~.
OR 126W FLORENCE-EUGENE HIGHWAY CONDITIONS REPORT - 2001
Currently, travelers on the Florence-Eugene Highway do not experience
significant congestion on most of that corridor. The areas that travelers
can expect weekday commute congestion are the segment of the
highway between Veneta and Eugene, and the Fisher Rd. intersection
near the Eugene metropolitan area. TABLE OF CONTENTS
By 2025, given no investment in the facility and no significant changes PREFACE
in planned land use, congestion is expected to worsen. Mountainous ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
sections without passing lanes are expected to experience notable EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
congestion. The signalized intersection of OR126 and Territorial
Highway in Veneta is also expected to be congested during both the USER'S GUIDE
weekday afternoon commute time and on weekends during the summer APPENDICES
months and major holidays. In the 2025 no-build scenario, the mainline -
O
segment between Veneta and Eugene and all unslgnallzed intersections
PAGE
studied in that segment will operate at congested levels during commute
_: O
times. The most notable challenge will be for drivers at the minor street
unsignalized intersections to safely enter or cross the traffic stream.
Shoulder width is the most prevalent geometric deficiency on the highway.
Decembe~2002
ES-9
VERSION 1.0
