How You Can Get Involved Review of FY08 Budget
FY2008 Budget Review Process
The review and approval phase of the budget cycle begins with the publication of the budget
document. On April 23, 2007, the City Manager will present the Budget Message to the Budget
Committee. Then, during work sessions in late April and early May, the Committee will review
the budget. There will be a 30-minute public comment period at the beginning of each work
session.
After the initial presentation from the City Manager, Budget Committee members may ask
questions, request further presentations from staff on particular issues, discuss proposed changes
to the budget, and make proposals for other changes. Through a series of motions, the
Committee will prepare its preliminary recommendation to the City Council by amending the
City Manager's Proposed Budget. Once the Committee has prepared its preliminary.
recommendation, it will hold a public hearing. After listening to the public testimony, the
Committee will refine its recommendation and forward it to the City Council. The City Council.
will conduct a public hearing and will. act to adopt the budget by June 30.
How You Can Get Involved
Citizens are encouraged to express their views on the budget and all meetings of the Budget
Committee and City Council are open to the public.
