A $250,000 grant from OPRD is funding r~ .,' , $
construction of the north parking lot and trail head and partially funding Rotary volunteers at Delta Ponds
construction of the north path. The north parking lot will be substantially
complete by June 30. The north path has been partially constructed, thanks to several area Rotary clubs that
adopted the project as part of their "Centennial Service Project." The path project includes an accessible
boardwalk leading to an overlook at the water's edge. An upper terrace. trail that will complete a large loop
path system is to be constructed as part of the City/Corps' work. A $389,000 grant from the BLM is funding
extensive invasive species removal and replanting on more than 28 acres of land. Invasive removal took place
in fall 2004 and will continue this spring and fall. These areas will be replanted with native species. Additional
planning and design of recreation and restoration improvements continues to move forward in anticipation of
the City/Corps construction project. Recreation amenities will include an additional small parking area, a
looped trail system, footbridges, benches, wildlife viewing areas and interpretive signage.
Echo Hollow Pool Improvements
Phase: Completion ofphase 1
A May 12 grand opening at Echo Hollow Pool will celebrate several significant enhancements, including an
outdoor spa and a 1,400-square-foot multi-purpose room with sports flooring. The work was funded in part by
the 1998 POS bond measure. The project greatly expands the service capabilities of the pool to better meet the
recreational needs of citizens in the Bethel region and Eugene in general. Patrons have asked for a spa for
years, and staff anticipates that the feature will also attract a large number of new customers. The multi-
purpose room will be used for fitness classes, dance classes, staff training sessions, party rentals, business
meetings and much more. Additionally, seismic work was done to help the building withstand an earthquake.
POSPeriodic Update: 04/28/05 ...................................................................................................................2
