Damage to Traffic and Street Light Facilities - Ii a street light, sign, signal wire, detector <br />loop, or related facility is damaged, the Inspector and City Transportation Maintenance (682- <br />5218) shall be immediately notified. It is important to note that if a detector loop is cut, the <br />entire run must be replaced. All repairs to such facilities will be performed by City forces <br />at the permittee's expense, unless otherwise directed by the Inspector. <br />Damage to City Irrigation Facilities - If a City irrigation line is damaged, the permittee <br />shall notify the Inspector who will consult with the Cit<- parks maintenance supervisor. The <br />City parks maintenance supervisor shall have the op~ion of providing repairs consultation to <br />the permittee responsible for the damage, directiz~~ the repair performed by the person(s) <br />responsible for the damage, or having the repair performed by City crews at the expense of <br />the permittee responsible for the damage. <br />Damage to Public Trees - When a street tree or tree on City-controlled property is <br />damaged, the Inspector must be notified and the Ci i<-'s Urban Forester consulted. The City <br />may require an assessment of tree damage and future health by a certified arborist. If a <br />damaged tree must be removed due to the severit~~ of damage or creation of a hazardous <br />condition, a tree removal permit must be obtained a^:d the tree removed at the expense of the <br />permittee and subject to the conditions imposed upon the tree removal permit. Tree removal <br />permit conditions typically include a requirement t~~ replace the removed tree with a tree of <br />similar value or to pay the City the value of the trey removed. EC 6.305(3) <br />Damage to Public Drywells - If a drywell is d:~-naQed, the Inspector shall be notified <br />immediately. Any damage to the drywell must be inspected by the Inspector. The Inspector <br />will consult with the .Engineering Division regarding appropriate repairs. The Inspector, <br />under the direction of Engineering personnel shill have the option of providing repair <br />consultation to the permittee responsible for the damage or having the repair performed by <br />City crews or a contractor under contract for the City at the expense of the permittee <br />responsible for the damage. <br />Section 4: MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES <br />4.A GENERAL <br />Patches or excavations within the public way in need o?' maintenance shall be reported to the <br />Inspector. In most cases, a utility cut requires maintenance or repair if any part of the replacement <br />surfacing deviates more than 3/4" from the finished surface street grade or '/2" from a finished <br />sidewalk grade. <br />If upon reasonable notice, the permittee fails to restore and maintain the public way affected by the <br />permittee's work, the City may perform the work and charge the cost to the permittee.
