Balled and burlapped or containerized trees may be planted between September 15~' and <br /> Apri115~' unless otherwise approved by the Urban Forester. <br /> 2.1.3. Weather Conditions <br /> Planting will not be permitted during the following conditions unless approved by the Urban Forester: <br /> *Cold weather -when air or ground temperature. is less than 32 degrees F; <br /> *Hot weather =when air temperature is greater than 90 degrees F; <br /> *Wet weather -when the ground becomes saturated; or <br /> *Windy weather -when wind velocity is greater than 30mph. - <br /> 2.1.4 Site Preparation. <br /> a) `Balled and burlapped, containerized, or in-ground fabric bag grown trees: <br /> Dig a shallow, broad tree planting hole at least 1 '/z times the diameter of the root ball .and to a <br /> depth that will allow the tnmk flare to be a minimum of 1" and a maximum of 2" above final grade. <br /> Score the edge of the hole to leave the edges rough and not smooth. This is to encourage rooting <br /> into the existing soil. <br /> b) Bare root trees: <br /> Dig a shallow, broad tree planting hole at least 1' wider than the spread of the roots to allow the <br /> roots sufficient area. The hole shall have sufficient depth to allow the trunk flare to be a minimum <br /> of 1" and a maximum of 2" above final grade. Leave a mound in the center of the hole. Drape and <br /> spread the roots in their natural position over the mound. <br /> Score the edge of the hole to leave the edges rough and not smooth.
