Trees are to be planted and established with a straight trunk, that is <br /> plumb. This can be accomplished through proper planting and staking. <br /> a) Use two (2" x 2" x 6' fir stakes or approved equivalent) driven <br /> firmly into the ground outside of the planting hole to prevent root <br /> - damage. <br /> b) Attach the tree to the stakes at a height no higher than 2/3 of the <br /> total height of the tree using tree ties that are at least 3/4" wide to <br /> prevent damage to the tree trunk. The tree ties must be securely <br /> attached to the stakes by a staple to prevent slipping to the <br /> I~ ground. <br /> c) Attach the ties to the tree so that the tree is able to have some <br /> movement but is still held firmly in place. <br /> <br /> ' 3.
